Jumu`ah Khutbah at As-Siddiq Mosque

Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillahee nasta`eenuhu wa nastighfiruhu was nastahdeehi wa na`oodhoo billaahi min shuroori anfusinaa wa sayyiaati `amaalinaa wa nashadoo an laa ilaaha illa-Llah, wahdahu laa shareeka lah, wa nashadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa habeebuhu wa rasooluh,...
ayuhal muminoon al-hadiroon, ittaqullaha wa ati`ooh. inna Allah ma` alladheenattaqaw walladheena hum muhsinoon.

Allah revealed to the Prophet (s) and the Prophet (s) mentioned to us in hadith that there will be confusions like chunks of dark nights; that means there will be huge confusions. Prophet (s) said:

laa yadree al-qaatil limaa qatal wa ’l-maqtool la ya`lam limaa qutil.
There will come a time when the one who kills does not know why he killed and the one being killed doesn't know why he was killed.

That is exactly what we are seeing today. The killer doesn’t know why he killed, except that he as pushed into it. And the one who was killed doesn’t know why he was killed, he was trying to make things better. During these confused and chaotic times, Prophet (s) said, “The one sitting is better than the one walking and the one standing is better than the one walking.” This means these days, don’t get involved in anything or take sides, because both sides have their own problems, defects, and faults. You cannot support one side over the other, leave the judgment to Allah (swt).

Prophet (s) said:
man ra’a munkaran fal-yughayyiruh bI-yadih fa in lam yastat`i fa-bi lisaanihi wa in lam yastat`i fa bi ’l-qalbi wa dhalika ad`afu ’l-imaan.
Whoever sees a wrong, try to change it with your hand; if you are unable, then try to change it with your tongue; if you cannot, then change it with your heart, and this is the lowest level of imaan.

So just sit and pray. Allah (swt) said:
كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتْ أُمَّةٌ لَّعَنَتْ أُخْتَهَا حَتَّى إِذَا ادَّارَكُواْ فِيهَاجَمِيعًا
kullama ja’at ummatun la`anat ukhtahaa hatta idhaa addarakoo feehaa jamee`an.
Every time a new people enters it curses its sister-people (that went before), until they follow each other, all into the Fire. (al-`Araf, 7:38)

wa hazama ’l-ahzaaba wahdah.
He is the One that demolished all different parties.

Allah doesn't like parties, He created human beings to worship Him. So we will go back to one of most important hadith of the Prophet (s):

“If there is a tyrant of a country (king or president), pray to Allah to change his heart from tyranny to moderation and peacefulness.”

Do not go and fight tyrants as you will end up in bloodshed. How many people have now been killed in the Middle East and for what benefit? One tyrant goes and another comes. We are now in the Last Days and there is fitnah everywhere, like dark nights with no end in sight. It started with Tunisia and began moving from there. So our duty is to sit in our places and make du`a. Today awliyaullah or sincere and pious shaykhs and scholars--not politicial shaykhs, they are running for their positions--will tell you, “Don’t be part of it as Allah (swt) will curse both sides, which are doing bloodshed.” And all of that comes from what? From corruption, it persists for a long period of time and at the end, blows up.

O Muslim Leaders! Those who don’t have problems in your country, try to give the rights to your citizens in order to avoid problems, confusion, and bloodshed!

The Prophet (s) was passing and saw someone whose cheeks were swollen and face red from anger. He said (s), innee `alamoo, “I know two sentences that this person can say that will bring him back to normal, ‘a`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani ‘r-rajim. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem.’”  When Shaytan comes and you begin to feel angry you cannot stop yourself, you become like a drunk person.

Prophet (s) said to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r), al-ghadabu kufrun yaa Abu Bakr, “Anger is disbelief.” Anger turns a believer into an unbeliever as they might swear and may not even know what they are saying. Take anger away from your hearts! Give advice and let people live in peace, without making bloodshed for no reason! Everyone who killed an innocent is going to be responsible on the Day of Judgment Day. Muslims must not kill anyone! If you see people demonstrating, don’t join them. Also, don’t glue yourself to the chair; today leaders do not want to give that chair away. Allah doesn’t like someone who is so connected to something zail, not eternal, and these chairs are not eternal. Just sit on it for five, six, or seven years. Why do you want to sit for thirty or forty years and pass it on, from child to child? Give someone else a chance and the responsibility.

May Allah keep us away from these chairs and keep us connected to the love of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). That is the best of what we can try, in our meetings and in our congregations; to praise whom Allah praises. Allah (swt) said in the Holy Qur'an:
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلاً مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ
subhaan alladhee asraa bi `abdihi laylan minal masjidil-haramee ilal masjid al-aqsa.
Glory to (Allah) Who took His servant for a journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque. (al-Isra, 17:1)

Allah is praising Himself, and one can praise Allah as He praises Himself, to show the greatness of Israa and Mi`raaj, as that is not something you can just talk about. “O human beings! It is not as easy as you think! I am bringing the Prophet from Earth to qaaba qawsayni aw adnaa, by praising Myself by Myself.”

“Alladhee” goes back to Allah. He didn't say “subhaanAllah,” that is for us to say. He said, subhaanalladhee, (which means) Subhaanee maa `azham shaanee, “Glory be to My Greatness, how I brought My servant to qaaba qawsayni aw adnaa.”

Our duty to is to give praise to Prophet (s). Why be worried about, “This one made me a servant, disrespected me, made me a slave.” If that person made you a servant, then Allah made you higher, so be happy and open your hearts. I am speaking especially to African-Americans. Don’t keep that resentment in yourself that, “we were slaves;” that is a temporary position to take you to servanthood. Those who didn't taste slavery will taste it on the Day of  Judgment, and those who did will be raised to servanthood. So don’t put in your heart, “we are slaves,” when in fact we are all slaves to our ego.

Praise the Prophet (s) instead, saying, allahuma salli `alaa Sayyidina Muhammad (s). Man salla `alay marran salla biha `ashara, “Whoever praises the Prophet (s) one time, Allah will pray on him ten times.”

Allah's praises have no limits! Love whom Allah created. He created Creation and is the Best Judge. May Allah forgive us and bless us on this Friday.

istaghfirullah al-`azheem alladhee laa ilaha ill-huwa wa atooboo ilayh.

Uways al-Qarani

Uways al-Qarani

Abu Amar Owais Bin Harb Bin al Muradi bin al Qarn  [d.37H/ 657CE] 'alayhi al-rahmah wa'l-ridwan
His name was Owais, he was known as Owais al-Qarni because he lived in a town called "Qarn" in Yemen.

Hadrat Owais Qarni (Allah be pleased with him) was a very pious and noble person. Although his life was insignificant from a worldly point of view, he is renowned and honoured amongst all Muslims, Sufis in particular, for his piety, practice of zuhd (asceticism), as well as a deep love and affection for the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Peace & Blessings upon him).

It is said that he spent all his hours in solitude, fasting, night vigil and salat (prayers). He had embraced Islam while the Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) was still alive. He naturally had a very strong desire to see the Prophet but since his mother was very old and she needed his constant care and attention, he could not visit the Beloved of Allah.

As a reward of his service to his mother, he was treated as a Sahabi (Companion of Prophet) by the Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) even though he could not see him personally. His name entered the list of Sahaba only because of his strong intention to see the Allah's Beloved Messenger (Peace & Blessings upon him).

Once the Companions asked the Beloved Prophet: "Has Hadrat Owais Qarni ever visited you? The Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) replied: "No, He never watched me physically, but spiritually he met me."

Sufism is based on the spiritual connection or link that was between the Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) & Hadrat Owais Qarni, in Sufism that spiritual connection is known as "Nisbat-e-Owaisiya". When Hadrat Owais Qarni (Allah be pleased with him) received a message about the Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him), that he had lost a tooth in the battle of "Uhud", Hadrat Owais Qarni pulled one of his own teeth out (because of his love towards the Beloved Prophet).

Thinking that he might not have pulled out the right tooth, and because he loved the Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) more than he loved himself, he pulled out all of his teeth to make sure that he had lost the same tooth as the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings upon him).

During his last days, the Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) asked Hadrat Umar and Hadrat Ali (Allah be pleased with them) to take his shirt (Jubba Mubarak) to Hadrat Owais and ask him to pray for the forgiveness of my followers (Ummah). The reason for this was to show his companions the very high status of Hadrat Owais.

Hadrat Umar and Hadrat Ali (Allah be pleased with them) asked the people if there was anyone from Qarn. One man came forward and told them how to find the place. They set out for Qarn. When they arrived, they asked the people where Owais was. The villagers answered their questions, but were very surprised to see the two prominent Companions asking for an unknown camel shepherd.

When Hadrat Umar and Hadrat Ali (Allah be pleased with them) reached to him, they saw Hadrat Owais saying his prayers. As he finished his prayers, he said, "It is the first time anyone has ever seen me praying. The two men passed on to him Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him)'s message asking Owais to pray for the forgiveness of the followers of Muhammad. This he did.

After a while he said, "Allah has forgiven and rewarded as many of Muhammad's followers as the hair of the sheeps of the Rabia and Mazhar tribes. They asked Hadrat Owais, "If you loved Muhammad so much, why didn't you visit him more often during his life time?" He did not answer, but asked if they took part in the battle of Uhud?

And if so, which tooth had Muhammad lost there? Hadrat Umar (Allah be pleased with him) was greatly impressed by this simple person and asked Hadrat Owais to pray for him. Hadrat Owais replied, "I pray for the forgiveness of everyone at the end of every prayer. If you keep your faith in Allah and His Messenger Muhammad, you will receive my prayers in your graves."

Shaykh FARID AL-DIN ATTAR tells us about Oways al Qarni ra:
"During his life in this world, he (Oways) was hiding from all in order to devote himself to acts of worship and obedience" ('Attar 1976, p. 2). 'Attar also relates that the Prophet Peace & Blessings upon him had declared at the time of his death that his robe should be given to Oways, a man he had never met in this life.
When 'Umar Radi Allahu anhu looked for Uways during his stay in Kufa, he asked a native of Qarn and was answered "there was one such man, but he was a madman, a senseless person who because of his madness does not live among his fellow countrymen. He does not mingle with anybody and does not eat nor drink anything that others drink and eat. He does not know sadness nor joy; when others laugh, he weeps, and when they weep, he laughs" (ibid., p. 29).
Many times in the company of his followers, the Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) stated: "I can smell the beauty of my fried from the land of Yemen'". This statement is in direct reference to the spiritual greatness of Hadrat Owais. The prophet also said: "I feel a sweet, peaceful breeze (naseem-e-rehmat) from Yemen". Concerning the hadith of the Prophet, upon whom be peace and blessings, "More people shall enter Paradise through the intercession of a certain man from my Community than there are people in the tribes of Rabi'a and Mudar," AL-HASAN AL-BASRI said: "That is Owais al-Qarni."
Hadrat Umar ra (Allah be pleased with him) quotes the Prophet as saying "Oh! Umar. From Yemen a man will arrive whose name is Owais and he has signs of Leprosy on his body, he cares for his old and frail mother. If for anything, he takes an oath in the name of Allah, Allah will fulfill his oath. If you can ask from him prayers for your own forgiveness, then you must do so."
Hadrat Ibn-e-Sa'd (Allah be pleased with him) quotes the Beloved Prophet (Peace & Blessings upon him) as saying "In my ummah (followers) I have a friend whose name is Owais al Qarni"Uwais al-Qarni says, "Keep watch over thy heart",  "Alayka bi-Ghalbik". Uwais al-Qarni said, "Hidden invocation (al-du'a fi dhahr al-ghayb) is better than visiting and meeting," because hypocrisy (riya) might enter in the latter two.

Translation of the Invocation of Owais al-Qarni:

"O Allah, You created me when I was not worthy of mention. And You provided for me when I had nothing. And I wronged my soul and sinned, and I confess my guilt. If You forgive me, that will in no way diminish Your sovereignty. And if You punish me, that will in no way augment Your authority. You can find others to punish besides me. But I can find no one to forgive me but You. Truly, You are the most merciful of those who show mercy."

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Look at Sayyidina Uwais al-Qarani (r), what happened? You know the story? What is the story? What happened? His mother said to him, “Don’t leave me to go and see the Prophet (s); for Allah’s sake stay with me.” He was going to see Prophet (s) and his mother said, “For Allah’s sake, for Prophet’s sake, don’t go!” Allahu akbar. And he stayed back. What did he get in reward? He listened to his mother and didn’t go to see his Prophet (s). And when he decided to go, the Prophet (s) had passed away.

When Prophet (s) was dying, and this is a story from Grandshaykh (q), because awliyaullah, like many common people, they see the Prophet (s) in dreams and when you see the Prophet (s) in dreams telling you something that is correct! No question. He said he saw in a vision, when the Prophet (s) was leaving dunya he called Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Ali (r), and said, “This is my robe, thawb,” the long dress that Arabs wear, like jalabiyya.

When Prophet (s) was leaving dunya he was sweating, sweating, sweating, sweating, sweating, until his clothes became very wet and if you squeezed it like that, drops would come out, from the sweat he was sweating. Tell them not to repeat that story, quote me about it. He said to Sayyidina `Umar (r) and to Sayyidina `Ali (r), “When I leave dunya take that one and give it to Uwais al-Qarani.” Sayyidina `Umar (r) and Sayyidina `Ali (r), of course when the Prophet (s) passed away, of course they cried, they were busy, but later they took the robe and it was still wet, the sweat of the Prophet (s) doesn’t dry.

That is similar to when I had one hair of Prophet (s) in London, we were making ziyaarat and many Pakistani’s have Holy Hairs of the Prophet (s). And one had a long hair, it was in a jar, and there is the Holy Soil from the Grave of Prophet (s) in it too. And I said, “Yunus.” He said, “Yes?” And I said, “Do you know what is coming to my heart?” He said, “Yes.” And I said, “Okay, go get scissors, I need half of it.” And he didn’t say “No,” he did it, and gave me half. I put it in a tube.

And the next year I came and asked Yunus to bring the Holy Hair of the Prophet (s) as it was Mawlid. And he brought the hair and it had grown back to its original length. Everyone was surprised because they saw last time I cut half of it. And I wanted to make sure, so we brought a flashlight and I shined it on the hair, there was no shadow. There was a small pebble, to hold it, which showed a shadow but no shadow of the hair. It is Hayy, alive. So also the sweat of the Prophet (s) is alive.

So they took that robe, wrapped it and they went to where Prophet (s) told them they can find him, and they were asking for him. His name was `Abdullah, he was known as `Abdullah, and they were asking;“Where is Uwais al-Qarani?” Asking, asking, then they asked a child, who was clever, “Do you know where is Uwais al-Qarani?” And he said, “I don’t know of Uwais al-Qarani, but can you describe him?” And they said, “Yes, someone who wanted to go and see Prophet (s), his mother...”And he said, “O that is `Abdullah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! Come, come, I will take you!” He took them. And Sayyidina Uwais al-Qarani (q) was sitting on a rock looking after the sheep, and he had his back to them.

And as they came near he said, without looking, “Yaa `Umar bring me the amaanat.” He took it, stood up, kissed it and put it on his head. Sayyidina `Umar (r) always likes questions, he wants to ask, he wants to know, `Umar (r) said to him, “Yaa Uwais, did you see Prophet (s)?”. And Sayyidina Uwais (q) said, “I ask you the same question,” and he didn’t answer, he said, “Did you see the Prophet (s)?”. Sayyidina `Umar (r) said, “Of course I saw Prophet (s)! I was with him day and night.”And Sayyidina Uwais said, “Yaa `Umar you did not see the Prophet (s), describe him to me.” So `Umar described his shamaail, different characteristics, eyes, ears etc.
Uwais said, “Everyone saw Prophet (s) like that. Yaa `Ali did you see the Prophet (s)?”

And he said, “Yes, one time in my life.” He said, “I saw Prophet (s), he called me when my eye was having problems, on the battlefield. And he looked at me and said, ‘Yaa `Ali, look at my belly and up.’ I looked and found the whole universe disappeared, and Prophet (s) filling the whole universe and his head is under the `Arsh. Then the Prophet (s) said, ‘Look from my belly and down.’” And Sayyidina `Ali (r) looked and found him filling, to his knees, the seven earths, and below that he did not see. “Then he said, ‘Look at all of me.’” He looked and found everything disappeared and wherever he turned his face he saw Prophet (s).

And Sayyidina Uwais (r) said, “Yaa `Ali, you are correct, you saw him.” So Sayyidina `Umar said, “Yaa Uwais, what is this robe’s speciality that Prophet (s) sent it to you?” He said, “Yaa `Umar, in this robe, Prophet (s) did not leave dunya without asking forgiveness on behalf of everyone of his ummah. And he sweated for everyone of his ummah, for each person, so each drop of sweat represents one person he interceded for when he was leaving dunya. And this robe, this dress, contains all of them, the whole ummah, from beginning to end, the sweat represents each member of his ummah, where the Prophet (s) interceded in front of Allah, that’s why he was sweating, ashamed from his Lord.” And he got acceptance that they are all under the shafa`ah of Prophet (s). So, who is then the bankrupt? When you know these Islamic Principles, and you know that you are going to be in front of Prophet (s), ashamed, because you are spreading false rumors, and Allah will not forgive you because they involve the rights of people; your `amal:

Wa qadimnaa ilaa maa `amiloo min `amalin faja`alnaahu habaa’an manthoora. And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deeds as floating dust scattered about. (Surat al-Furqaan, 25:23)

“We come to what they have done and we throw their `amal in their faces,” Allah said. That’s why their `amal is not accepted; let them pray as much as they like! Their `amal is not accepted. They are going to be asked and questioned:

`An abi hurayratata (r) anna rasoolullahi (s) qaala atradoona maa al-muflis? Qaaloo al-muflis feenaa man laa dirham lahu wa laa mata`. Faqaala inna ’l-muflis min ummatee yaatee yawm al-qiyamati bi-salaatin wa siyaamin wa zakaatin wa yaatee wa qad shatama hadhaa wa qazhafa hadhaa wa akala maala hadhaa wa safaka dam hadhaa wa daraba hadhaa fa-yu`tee hadhaa min hasanaatihi wa hadhaa min hasanaatihi fa in fanayta hasanaatahu qabl an yuqdaa maa `alayhi aakhadha min khataayaahum fa-turihat `alayhi thumma turiha fi ’n-naar.

The Prophet (s) said: Do you know who the muflis (bankrupt one) is? The muflis from my Ummah is one who comes on the Day of Judgment having performed prayer, fasting, and giving zakaat. However, along with all of this, he abused this person and slandered that person, ate the wealth of this person and unlawfully spilled the blood of that person. These people will take from his good deeds. If, however, his good deeds become exhausted, then their sins will be put upon him and he will be thrown into the Fire.  (Muslim, Ahmad, Tirmidhi)

So, let us pray for everyone to say, “Yaa Rabbee, we are all weak servants, us and them. Those who backbite us, we forgive them and we keep going, doing our job,” and try to close the door that the wind comes from, we don’t need to smell their bad smell, then you are going to fall into the dirty smell. No, stay in the perfumerie, al-`attaar, you will get some perfume on your hand. If you go to a blacksmith you get some fire sparkles on your body.  No, it is better to save ourselves and we say, “May Allah forgive us all, wa as-salaamu `alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh.

Wa qeela li-Salman al-Farsi awsinaa fa-qaala man istata` minkum an yamootu haajan aw ghaaziyan aw `amiran li-masjida rabbihi fal-yaf`al wa laa yamootanna taajiran wa laa khaa’inan.

They asked Salmaan al-Farsi to advise them and he said, “whoever among you is able to die on hajj or fighting as a soldier (against an aggressor) or building a mosque, then let him do so, but do not die as a trader nor as a traitor.

We are squeezed here, but on Day of Mahshar we will not be squeezed inshaa-Allah. And we are squeezed here because we are listening to something that makes us happy and on Judgment Day, inshaa-Allah we will not be squeezed but saved with no account and enter Paradise with no account!

Wa min Allah at Tawfeeq

Consistency with Your Awraad is the Key
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani
2 November 2013   New Jersey

Suhbah at Private Residence (Suhbah in progress.)

Every one of us has a goal in his life; for some, their goal is Allah and His Prophet (s) completely and they give all their time. Some have (intention for) Allah and His Prophet (s) according to their capacity, which is also very good. Some have one day thumma amanoo, one day thumma kafaroo, which means one day they are on the right way, and one day they make mistakes.

I was going to go and rest, but Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (q) sent a message, “No! These are one of the best times, because in two days it is the first of Muharram, the beginning of the New Year,” and awliyaullah in these days are busy in preparation for this coming year, which is a heavy condensed year with too many changes going to happen. So he said, “Don’t miss that opportunity to convey a message to everyone seeking Allah and his Prophet (s), because people came here for...they can pray at home and they do not take the difficulty of travelling in order to sit and do their prayers.”

Such associations are important not because the person who is speaking is important, no, and not because the materials are important, no. It is important because of the tajalli, the manifestation that Allah sends at certain times. No one knows when it happens, and this morning Allah’s manifestation of His Rahmah, as Allah wants His servants to learn, not through Alif, Baa, Taa, or through reading and communicating through books, but through certain light that Allah throws in the heart of those who are present in this association.

Like Sayyidina Musa (a) and Sayyidina Khidr (a)... Why did Sayyidina Musa (a) go to Sayyidina Khidr (a) although Sayyidina Musa (a) is higher in knowledge? Yes, Sayyidina Musa (a) is higher in knowledge and had `Ilm ash-Shari`ah, Knowledge of Shari`ah, as Allah gave Shari`ah to Musa (a) for one reason: because he was Kaleemullah and any question he asks, he gets answers. But `Ilm al-Haqaa’iq was with Khidr (a) and that does not mean that Sayyidina Musa (a) is not higher; of course he is higher, he is one of the Oolu ‘l-`Azam, the Five Main Prophets.

So the importance is not who is who, or who is there, but the importance is that tajalli that Allah (swt) sent and awliya always look for it, and this morning we have such tajalli here. That will come to you, because someone asked me yesterday about that; they want to learn this kind of knowledge and how can they achieve it? That is to be achieved by patience, not reading books, not studying, nothing else, as Allah opens to the heart.

Our duty in order to be on the right track is to do three things, and awliyaullah recommend three things that if you do them, you are going to get that Reality for those who are asking for it. If your shaykh asks you and tells you that, “In this spot of Earth, under the Earth, inside, there you can get your amaanat, they are ready for you there!” Grandshaykh, Allah bless his soul, said, and I am quoting Grandshaykh, “There are seven spots in the world that are very important for us.”

People mine for diamonds underground, maybe deep under the ground, two kilometers or three to four miles down, to get these diamonds of one, two or more carats. He said, “There are seven in this world,” and awliyaullah are saying this, what you cannot find in books. He said, “There are seven diamonds that have the touch of Sayyidina Jibreel (a) and no one knows where they are except one, which is in the hands of Mahdi (a). Six are hidden and when Mahdi (a) comes they will appear.”

How important is it if someone told you that diamond is in this spot in the Earth? “Go and dig,” and gives you a broken shovel to take out the earth to reach that diamond. “Go and dig,” would you do it? (Yes, sir!) Mashaa-Allah, you are a wali then! (Laughter) You will do it, because he told you there is a diamond there that has a touch of beauty from Sayyidina Jibreel (a), and everyone will dig but you will come with a question mark, “Why is my shaykh giving me a broken shovel to dig? It means he doesn’t want me to reach it,” as after two or three minutes the shovel is broken and you cannot dig. But the shaykh said, “Do it!” and your job is to do it.

So don’t ask, “How I can do it?” He knows you cannot do it, but he wants you to do it. “You want your treasures? Your treasures are there, so dig with a broken shovel in order to get your treasures from where they are hiding!"

Yeah, for sure you cannot get it by your dunya calculation, but by Akhirah calculation, you inherit, you inherit from Prophet (s), and awliyaullah inherit this kind of power from Prophet (s)! You put 1+1, it equals 1, and they say, “It equals 2,” but in reality it equals 1, by logic it equals 1. They say, “How it equals 1?” If you put one drop of water together with another drop of water it equals one. So put 1 +1 and you will find the reality that Prophet (s) threw in the hearts of awliyaullah:

وكلّ من رسول الله ملتمسا غرفا من البحر أو رشفا من الدّمي

Wa kullun min rasoolillaahi multamisun, gharfan min al-bahri aw rashfan min ad-diyami.
All of them partake from the Prophet of God a handful of his oceans or a sip from his continuous rains. (Imam al-Busayri, Burdah ash-Shareefa)

And Prophet (s) will not say no, he will give as much as your capacity because as much you can take, he gives.

When Prophet's uncle Abu Jahl invited him to his house in order to get rid of him and he dug a ditch, a hole, and covered it so when Prophet (s) would come he would fall inside, when Prophet (s) came to the invitation Abu Jahl was so happy, not because he was coming to eat, but because he was going to fall in the hole without seeing it.

So Abu Jahl was running and he fell in the hole, Prophet (s) didn't fall in the hole, but he fell in it! He forgot about it. Who saved him? Prophet (s)! Books say it was Prophet (s), for sure. Awliyaullah say that Prophet (s) extended his hand into the well to pull Abu Jahl out and if it was not for the hand of Prophet (s), Abu Jahl would have been falling to the End of Days, to the Day of Judgment, falling down into that hole, never coming out!

Audhu Billahi min al shaytan al rajim, Bismillahi r-Rahman r-Rahim. Assalatu wasalamu ala Rasulina Muhammad Sayidil Awwalin wa al Akhirin. Madad Ya Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al -Haqqani, dastur! Tariqatuna sohbah wa l-khayri fi jamia'.

Our way is through association & blessing is in the gathering. Now we may say here a few words. Of course we make sohbat everyday after noon but to say in Juma, we find it a bit difficult to do. Insha Allah Mawlana gets better soon that he comes & talks to us that we won't have to talk. Insha Allah he will be with us for long years. Mawlana sends salams. Now Insha Allah, slowly he is getting better insha Allah. This test, it was not a test for  him but for us: for all his followers it was a great test.

There are big lessons in this. This is also bringing out the illnesses people have in them. It was good to see Mawlana even from a distance. But people wanted to speak to Mawlana personally no matter what. Ok, you have come all the way here but still you don't need to. Already Mawlana has hundred thousands of follow ers, Masha Allah. If he was to speak to each one of them one by one, even hundred years would not be enough.

Now with the wisdom/ Hikma of Allah, people are not able to see him at all but they are still coming. All who come, they are welcome. Visiting an ill person is already big sawab, reward & from Sunnah. And when that ill one is your Shaykh, multiple times of sawab for people. It is very good but now, some who come they still are not able to remove that illness from themselves. They say "I may see Mawlana no matter what!" Already Mawlana never cared for his self, his health, his tiredness -he sacrificed, he sacrified everything. Mawlana gave all.

He has seen everyone. He didn't even break the heart of the smallest person. Although he was 90, although he was sick,he still saw people.. And when you come here now, don't do this anymore! Meaning, whoever comes here should not think about it either. When they think about it, a heaviness comes on Mawlana. Heaviness comes "because this man's heart is broken, he came all the way, traveled thousands of kms & couldn't see Mawlana". If Mawlana was able to see you, he would see all of you 100x! But now the situation is not like this.

So doctors, with Allah's permission. They say "Allah send doctors to the one who is to heal". Insha Allah Mawlana will get better that Allah has sent 100s of doctors, professors to Mawlana. But counting on doctors.. Still, dua is more important than the doctors. Our Turkish people have a beautiful saying: "Don't speak big, This doctor has come, Mawlana healed", don't say like this. With Allah's Hikma, Divine Help he heals. When Mawlana takes each medicine, he makes dua, for it to be shifa for him.

There is no one among our Turkish people who don't know the Qasida-Uways al Qarani, in the land of Yemen. Uways al Qarani Hz had come all the way to Madina & returned without seeing the Prophet. Our Prophet saw his nur, light & realised that he had come. He is such a valuable person that, he gave his cloak, jubba to him. Till now it is being visited in Istanbul. Meaning, he is such an honourable person. Because who insists "I will see Mawlana", it means his ego is riding on him, nothing else!

May Allah give Mawlana long life. We should already not tire Mawlana from now on as well. Insha Allah we see him, you see him too but with dua. Make dua that Allah gives him health & wellness. Because if Allah says "they forgot me & counted on the doctors" it is no good. Really our Shaykh is the most beloved servant to Allah in this time with the honouring of the Prophet (sas) & Allah (awj). So he can conquer whole world, everything come to him with Allah's permission. But don't say "this doctor, that doctor".

He always asks for dua! Already it was Mawlana's habit, to ask anyone who comes to him, for dua. Whoever he sees, he would say "make dua for me". Make dua for him. Insha Allah with duas soon may he be with us again & make these sohbets on Jumaas. We speak about Shaykh Effendi, he is sending salams for everybody. Alhamdulillah, he is getting better. Slowly slowly he is getting better. And, he is the beloved servant for Allah (awj). And in Turkish they say: "the ill man who will be cured, doctor coming to his feet". Alhamdulillah Allah send many doctors for him. And he is getting better, Alhamdulillah. But we are not saying only for getting better with doctors, with dua.

We must  make dua, everybody must make dua. Because not only medicine, it is cure. And when he take every medicine, he make "Bismillahir -Rahmani r-Rahim, insha Allah this is cure by the order of Allah". And, thank you for people who coming. Alhamdulillah, many people coming from everywhere. And, he is happy. But there is one point. That people who coming, most of them everytime they ask to see him. And, he is 90 years old. And when he is ill, or tired, every time he was speaking to people.

And people, they want to speak one, to one also. They put all the details and..Alhamdulillah, he was doing many people like this. But now he become very tired, very ill. And when you say this word: "I want to see him now!", you just make this for your ego. You make this for ego and better for you, don't come here. Because this is giving, even by your heart you say "I want to see my Shaykh" no, it is not good. Because making, what they said, bad energy. Making burden on him. He is feeling this. No, you come here to visit ill person. It is Sunnah & big sawab. How you are visiting Sultan Al-Awliya, your Shaykh, your Master, coming from long distance.

So Allah, already He give you all what you come for this purpose. All what you need insha Allah, Allah give you here & in Akhirat more & more you can't imagine how it is. But to put this in your heart, it is bad Adab and not good, especially for Mawlana not good, become burden on him. Insha Allah, I don't like to sit here Juma time, to speak here. Other days we speak 5 minutes every afternoon. But Juma, I don't like at all to speak. Insha Allah he come after short time insha Allah. We hope this insha Allah. But this point very important. Many people from love, they mix..mix between ego & between love. Ok, you love your Shaykh. But no, even 1 minute you can't see him. If 1 minute, 1 minute...100 000 minutes you must look for him.

But insha Allah  with dua, because when he was meeting with people, every time ask dua for him. Insha Allah all who listen to here & where they are listening, make dua. Insha Allah with dua, Insha Allah very soon coming among us, make sohbat for us insha Allah. But what we do insha Allah, waiting. And this is, his maqam become more high & high & high for him insha Allah. And when he become like this, he also he is not.. Awliya, Prophet they are not selfish at all. You cannot find this in Awliya. When they took this, they give for people, for murid, for ummah.

Insha Allah this is illness of ego. Everybody have but you must know this. Especially this time: I can, even 5 minutes morning, 5 minutes evening we see. When he speak, he is becoming tired in his lungs. The doctor he said, this illness coming for old people, fast like a horse but when to cure, like ant. Slowly slowly slowly slowly. So people they saw, maybe this is influence: "After 1 week I can see him, when we see he is good, oh, quickly we can see Mawlana" No. Allah give him health & we can see him. After 2 months also, it is ok for us insha Allah. Because insha Allah he is getting better, but he must rest after when he is getting better also. And at least needs 2 months to come out, for seeing people.

So who want to come to see, maybe after 2 months. But if he just come here also, he said "this is Maqam". More than 25 year, they make this ibadat, worshipping in this place. So when coming here, he is like what he want, he make dua Allah insha Allah accept this. Allah give him long life insha Allah. Especially for Jumaa, there is time for accepting dua. Insha Allah, this is time for this. Allah give him strength, health insha Allah, long life with Sayyidina Mahdi & Isa (as). Bi Hurmat AlFatiha.

We forgot. In Turkish we said about Uways Al Qarani. There is song, every time they make this song, Turkish people. Mawlana, he likes "Yemen ellerinden Veysel Karani". This is because, Uways al Qarani he was coming to see Prophet (sas). And he didn't find him.

He kissed his door & go back. Because his mother told him, come quickly. When Prophet (sas) come to house, he looked & see his light, nur. And after, sending Sayidina Omar & Sayidina Ali, giving jubba. And this jubba, still until now visiting in Istanbul, there is a special mosque for this. So, this is from his pureness. No ego, nothing. Just with adab coming & going. Even he couldn't see the Prophet but he was all time with him, Alhamdulillah. There is lesson, too many lesson from this illness of Mawlana. So insha Allah, very soon he will cure insha Allah. Fatiha.

The Turkish Qasida about Uways al-Qarani

"Yemen Ellerinden, In the land of Yemen".
"When he was born & came to this dunya,
angels spread out their wings under him.
He is the friend of the Beloved of Allah,

Uways al Qarani, in the land of Yemen.
Uways al Qarani, in the land of Yemen.
He would never  lie.
Would never eat from Haram.

Uways al Qarani, in the land of Yemen.
Uways al Qarani, in the land of Yemen.
He would herd a camel for a silver coin.
And would immediately give it out for charity.

He would say Tawheed so much
that even camels would learn.
Uways al Qarani, in the land of Yemen.
Uways al Qarani, in the land of Yemen.
Qarani Qarani, Uways al Qarani.

Everyone is Taking from the Prophet (s)
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani qs

Salam 'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.  Alhamdulillah, whomsoever Allah guides no one can lead astray whoever Allah sends astray cannot be guided. Ashadu la ilaha ill 'Llah wa ashadu anna Muhammadan rasoolullah  Before we begin speaking, in any action, we must first renew our Islam and Iman and first we must praise our Prophet (s). And speaking about the Prophet (s) it is not possible for any human beings to know the value and greatness of the Prophet (s). His Value to Allah is unbelievably expensive and no one can understand it, except his Companions and the Guided Caliphs.

As for the Imams and the Successors and the Successors of the Successors...Imam al-Busyari, who was a knower about some of the secrets said, "Everyone is taking from the Prophet (s) either in gulps from the ocean or drips from the mist. And in this saying that every creation must take from the blessings of Sayyidina Muhammad (s), because he said all, kull everything is taking from the Prophet (s). And nothing is outside of al-kull, everything, so all things are.

Therefore in need of the Prophet (s), both in this life and the Next Life. Sayyidina Muhammad al-Busayri (r) said, “gharfan min al-bahri aw rashfan min ad-diyami - Either they are taking in buckets from ocean or in handfuls from the constant rain.”

Ibn `Ajeeba said, and he was from the great scholars of the Ummah, so that people understand said, "knowledge is of two types: knowledge of papers and knowledge of taste." And Sayyidina Bayazid al-Bistami (q) said "O my Lord, how can I come to You?" and the voice came "leave your self and come!" and Sayyidina Bayazid said, "how do I leave my self?".  "Leave your will and let your will be what Allah's Will is for you".
Who does not do that is in fact showing shirk al-khafee, hidden shirk, for hidden shirk in fact is to show your will in preference to Allah's will. Purify oneself of anger. Therefore Allah mentioned those who put down their anger and the ones who forgive others. Allah does not like us to be angry but to put down our anger. so we must not ever let anger control us. If we prevent anger from controlling us then our selves will be divested of and you will become pure and you will begin to hear what no one can hear and see what others cannot see, as the hadith of the Prophet (s),"My servant does not cease to approach Me through voluntary worship until I love him and when I love him I will become the eyes with which he sees, I will become the ears with which he hears..to the end of the hadith.

At that time that hadith will be realized in us.  Among the people today who can claim I hear what others don't hear and I see what others dont see.  and if someone denies that a person can do that is denying the words of the Prophet (s) and they are described by the Holy Qur'an as those will. We cannot say that is bid'ah and shirk. We don't know what that man sees, we cannot say he doesn't see, what we don't see. No, he is devoted to Allah and spends his entire time in His worship. Allah is the Most Merciful of the Merciful and the Generous, so He gives to whom He pleases, how can you deny Your Lord's Power to make that man a wali of Allah, and the Prophet (s) says in holy hadith ...
Imam Isma`eel al-Bukhari, author of the hadith book, Sahih al-Bukhari, is there anyone more truthful than him? no. Therefore we cannot deny his vision of the Prophet (s) and this is something to common Muslims, not only for Sayyidina Imam Bukhari. It is possible right here there are people who have seen the Prophet (s) in the dream.
Until the end of the Salat al-Faatih, haqqa qadrihi wa miqdaarihi al-`azheem. Muhammad Talmaysani was told in a vision by the Prophet (s) to recite that salawat and that it would be as if you recited 100,000 times Dalail al-Khayrat. Reciting it only one time. That will be equal to 800,000 times Dalail al-Khayraat, ie. If you lived 100 years in worship you could do that. The angels and the Prophet (s) said, from His Lord:

anaa jaleesu man dhakaranee, I am present with those who are remembering Me, meaning I am with them supporting them and that hadith begins, Allah has angels roaming the streets seeking out the sittings of remembrance of Allah and when they find these circles of dhikr they sit with them and make dhikr with them.

And there is another hadith about circles of dhikr,  when you find the gardens of Paradise, sit among them, and the Sahaba asked what are the gardens of Paradise and the Prophet (s) said, the circles of Dhikr. And such a gathering like this one ia a piece of Paradise and such will take place up to Judgment Day. Who wants better than that that His Lord is with him? and your Lord is with you as long as you are remembering Him. "Remember Me and I remember you. Thank Me and dont be ungrateful."
"Those who remember Allah standing, sitting and lying down and ponder on the creation of heavens and earth." it is essential to ponder on Allah's creation until you become aware of His Greatness. Then that Greatness will be dressed on you. and you will be able to see what others cannot see. You cannot be described in this dunya, and the tongue it melts under the descriptions of such stations which are mentioned in Holy Qur'an that after Dhikr they contemplate
Hadith of revelation of Surat Maryam, that when Jibreel came to the Prophet (s) with Surat Maryam and said to him kaf, the Prophet (s) said, I know it.

O Mawlana we don't pretend we are scholars. "Above every know there is a higher knower." We want only to be at the threshold of the Prophet (s). That is what we seek. That is what we ask. That is what we want.

O our Lord, you know us and our hearts. make our Prophet with us in every moment. That is what we seek and that is what the brothers and sisters and young people seek. And who love the Prophet (s) will be under his shafa`a. that is what we want to have the love to the Prophet (s). Everyone will be with the one they love.

So we want to be with the Prophet (s). and we ask Allah to forgive us and to renew our iman and that we raise our hands and altogether we recite ashadu la ilaha ill 'Llah wa ashadu anna Muhammadan rasoolullah. ashadu la ilaha ill 'Llah wa ashadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasooluh. ashadu la ilaha ill 'Llah wa ashadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasooluh. The Complaining Slave

As-Salamu Alaikum. Tariqatuna sohbah wa l-khayri fil jamia'. If mankind accepts what Allah says & is content with what Allah wants he is at rest. Because Allah (awj) wants people to be on the right way. And the right way is to have faith. From Adam (as) up till now, till our Prophet (sas) came 124.000 Prophets. And each one... For some, Books were descended upon them. Allah descended Books upon them so they spoke to people with it.

Descending, descending. Finally the Holy Quran descended and completed all. What we want to say is that all the religions were True religions but their times have passed. Now the time is the time of Islam. Allah's pleasure is with those who follow it. And Muslims should show contentment for being granted this gift from Allah, for all conditions: People can be rich, can be poor. Every condition, every situation is what Allah wants, what Allah thinks suitable. You should be content with it. It can be that you are poor. Most people get wild, go astray when they get money.

Therefore Allah (awj) made it like this, created man like this. He should be content with it. The dunya life is already for a short time. Before you live it, it looks long but when you live...When you look ahead, years, days look very long to people but when he looks back & sees the life he lived he gets surprised. Only yesterday I was a kid, I was young... It was only last year, it was spring. How it passed so fast & it become autumn again. Days are passing by fast.

Therefore if you are going to live a few days, live it by pleasing Allah. And what pleases Allah? If you are content on this way & do as He says, Allah will be pleased with you. Of course dunya is a place of test, is a place of difficulties. Definitely, whether you are the strongest man in the world or the weakest, whether you are the richest man or the poorest man, each one has different tests, different things. Meaning there is no one who will come to this world & find rest. Who is at rest is the one who is content with what Allah does. This is coming from Allah, it is the order of Allah. If this didn't happen something else will come on us. We can't get along with this person but if is not him, then it can be something worse. There are endless people on Allah's side & man can't live alone also. Man's condition can change every minute, different states can come. Therefore be content with your condition it could be worse. There is a nice story that Mawlana used to tell. Mawlana tells us to tell such stories because it is good to do so & it says in Quran also "So relate the stories" (7:176).

The scholars don't like stories. These new ones that showed up recently. There were slaves in old times of course. And if the slave wants he can ask his master "Sell me, I am not very pleased." And some sell so that he won't get upset. One slave, his master would eat lettuce. The master would make him eat the sides of the lettuce & he would eat the middle part. He happened to like it more. The slave got upset &asked his master to sell him. His master sold him. His new master this time was eating the middle part & the sides, all of it without giving him anything. He got upset even more, saying "I was not even content with the old one what kind of a thing is this?" He asked his master to sell him & he did.

They saw that this third man, he made him as a candle holder, put candle on his head. He lit the candle & he was sitting. And the slave is keeping quiet, is not asking him to sell himself although he has no comfort like he had before. He was very comfortable before, he was much better. They asked him "Are you crazy? This man is torturing you like this. How come you didn't like the good master & made him sell you & now you fell into the hands of this worse one." He said "You can't interfere with Allah's business. Each time I was not content with my master, I fell to worse ones. The first one was like this, then I fell to a worse one & this 3rd is the worst. I am afraid that if I ask this man to sell me, the new one will say 'you have too much oil in your eyes' & burn it also so I'm content with this". So there is always worse. Show contentment. If you show contentment, you will be at rest. Who is not content always burns himself from inside & finishes & can't do anything about it either, it is not possible to stand against Allah.

Today we speak about people are all time in stress, in bad mood. Why? Who is following what Allah ordering & happy with this order, Allah will be happy with him & this people or human being or whatever they will be satisfied. Allah what He order, Allah what He is happy with people? Allah happy with people to be in right way. And right way, what is this? It is religion. Because He is ordering what to do. There was from Adam (as) until Sayyidina Muhammad (sas) 124.000 Prophets (as) coming. And each one, coming following.. Maybe making, Allah ordering new thing or to do something. Some of them have Book also from Allah, like Tawrat, like Injil.  And last one Quran, complete all these Books.

So Allah is happy with people they are believe. We believe in all religions since coming from Adam (as) until Prophet Muhammad (sas). We accept them, we accept them all & Quran also accept them. But now it is time of Quran because it is real miracle, everything inside from Tawrat or from Bible, or from.. all Books inside Quran. And Allah happy with people following His order. Now order is in Quran. Who are trying to make new law, new thing, Allah not happy with that. And they will never be happy, these people. Because when you following Allah's law, you must be happy with your situation.

Allah create people, some of them rich some of them poor, some of them weak some of them strong. From Allah this. If you accept this from Allah, you will be satisfied & you will be happy. No harm. Because maybe to be poor man better. Many people when they find money they become out of right way, going bad way. And money is nothing. And human being, if the most richest one in the world. If you are the most richest one in the world or you are the poorest one or you are strongest one, or you are weakest one, everybody Allah put for them some difficulty, to make people not be happy in this world. The most richest man, you think he is the most happiest one? No, not at all, at all... We know the most richest one in Turkey. He was 65 years & become cancer and then.. And he had disabled children also..

So you can't buy happiness with money. So for this, you must accept your situation & be happy with Allah, so that time you will be rest. Other, if you say "No, this man is very bad, this is not good, what is this?" Ok, this man not good but there is, Allah create billions people. If this not good, Allah send another one. If you are not happy with that He (swt) send another one. Your situation not good, He send-you can find another difficulty. In this world, in this life until you die it is like this. Even you don't know after 5 minute what will happen also. So you must be accept Allah's order & you say this is from Allah, so you will be rest. Otherwise, you are burning from inside.

And there is one story, my father, many time we hear from him & he said "When make sohbat, say some story also". Story good, even in Quran Allah ordered"Faqsusi Al-Qasas"(7:176).Tell story about people. There was one slave. Before in old time you know there were slaves; you can buy them, you can sell them. And in Muslim country, when some slave is not happy with his master he can tell him "you can sell me". He sells him. This, he was working with man. He was very good. But when he was eating some kind of salad, it has branch. Giving branch for this slave & he eat inside. He look one, two..& become making this problem for himself.

He said "Please sell me, I don't want to be with you anymore". He take him to where they sell slave. He sell him to another man, buying him. Another one, when he was working with him, he was eating whole salad not giving anything for him. So he become more angry & tell him "sell me". Ok. Third one, looking he is not around anymore & they coming seeing him they were shaving his head & he put candle on his head, this new master. He is not saying anything. They were astonishing "You were in good master & you say 'sell me'. What you do this for yourself? This man is very bad treat you. It is not human being treatment, what is this..?"

He said "I am afraid, every time I am getting worse & worse. And this is Ok. If I say to sell me maybe other one will say 'your eyes, too much oil in your eyes. Take your eye's oil & burn it' So I am happy, ok with this". So there is condition worse & worse.. So you must be happy with your condition.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq, Al Fatiha.

Black Magic

By Shaykh Mehmed Effendi qs

Shaykh Mohammad Effendi qs

As-Salamu Alaikum. Tariqatuna sohbah wal-khayri fil jamia'. Every prayer of those who go to Hajj, who sit next to the Kaaba has 100.000 rewards. And 10.000 rewards for those who go to Madina or whatever they do, this reward multiplies to 10.000, 100.000 in these places. And 1.000 for Masjid al Aqsa, for Jerusalem. When people go to these holy places just as they gain rewards, when they commit sins they have great consequences.

Therefore you should be careful, don't lose from one side while trying to gain from another. You should control your ego & avoid sins. Why did we say this now? There are also people coming here, they come to visit Mawlana. And of course that is. There is Hadith Sharif which says "When a Muslim goes to visit another Muslim, for each step he takes one sin is forgiven & a reward is written. His level goes up". Then what about visiting the beloved servant of Allah, waliullah? Of course it is multiple times more reward.

Many people come here for the love of Allah, love of the Prophet (sas), love of mashayikhs. And when they come here, many of them stay keeping their good manners. MashaAllah 99% percent of those who come are like this but.. They are like this but.. It is said "Being close to the Sultan is like burning fire". For this, instead of staying too long or living in Madina & not missing it, missing is much more reward for the people. One lives in Madina al-Munawwara & gets used to it; it becomes normal.

And there are people who live close to Mawlana. Of course they too, all of them think now that.. They take it as normal, ordinary. They don't try to keep adab. What is worse than this is they think of themselves highly. They think that they have become something & are trying to hunt the people.. They sit lazily all they long & say to the people coming "you have jinn, you have shaytan, black magic on you.." They try to take benefit from the people who only come to please Allah. What they gain like this gives no benefit to them. They also have kids. They should consider it also, how these kids will grow up with their shamelessness, using the name of Allah you disturb the people although there is nothing & say exactly the opposite of what your Shaykh says & on top of it you have beard, turban without shame.

If you see this man, you think he is something. Even the Grand Mufti does not have such majesty. We are saying this openly so that people won't be deceived. It is a pity, people are coming here all the way. Why are we saying this? There was a lady, she had such a problem 3 years ago and told Mawlana. He said to her "you are Ok" and also made dua for her. She was at rest. Recently she came, trembling -"the man held me saying 'you have jinn, black magic..'" This is a shame. If you are not ashamed, then you have children whose end won't be good with this money you take from people this way. It doesn't give you or others any benefit. And we are saying the lightest punishment in dunya, leave aside the disgrace in akhirah. Therefore who deals with jinn, sihr, black magic..These things are already from the great sins. There are 7 great sins & this is one of them, to deal with sihr, black magic. If you tie a knot in a rope & blow on it with the intention of black magic you are out of religion. This is Hadith. To believe in them also and go to magic makers, your tawba is not accepted for 40 days.

So you should be careful with this also. Don't you ever go to such people. You ask them many things & they never give you a proper answer then when something like this comes up they speak this way, beware of this. Allaha Shukur, Masha Allah this thing (Saltanat recording) is good. Many people we would never think of say "we saw you, heard you." It is good then Allah Shukur, we declare to everyone that they should beware. They should stay away from people who say "I can do black magic, jinn things". Especially ladies, those men who say "we deal with jinn" they take advantage. Stay away from them.

We didn't say this last time, I am saying this time openly: Those who deal with jinns are rapists. Stay away. Today we speak about Hajj- who going to Kaaba, to Prophet's (sas) mosque, to Masjid al-Aqsa..Who going to mosque, Kaaba; who pray there or making charity Allah give 100 000 more than another place. For mosque of Prophet (sas) 10 000x more. For Masjid al-Aqsa in Quds,1000x more. When you do this, you must do as you can do worship, you can do good thing, charity; do there. But you must be careful to not make sin in this area. Because also when you make sin, it is also like this- coming 100.000x for you.

So you must be careful for this. Why do we say this? Because many people coming for visiting Mawlana Shaykh. And to visit one mu'min/believer to his brother- Hadith, Prophet (sas) saying "For each step, Allah forgive him 1 sin & give him, rewarding him 1 reward & making high, one step more high". This is what, for normal believer, to visit each other. And you are coming now here, you are visiting inheritor of Prophet (sas) & Allah's beloved servant. So it is more high than normal believer. 99% they are coming, by pure heart & good intention here. But there is maybe 1%, it is coming for another intention.

And there is another thing, who are living here since long time, little bit become like normal to be around Mawlana Shaykh. And there was saying for living in Madina; also not so good to live there because you feel you are in normal place. You are not taking care of adab. You are like another place. So it is better to be away from Madina, to like to go there, to burn to go there. You would like to go visit this place. But when you live there, it is like any other placeyou are sitting & living.

And who is living around Mawlana, they are now like normal. Not so much. And there are some people also they getting worse. They only for they are lazy, not doing anything & they are making to get money, to cheat people. They are saying "You have jinn, you have magic, black magic. You have like this, I know I know..." And this is the worst thing can be done for this, who is doing this. Because they have children. And when you make this & you take money & feed your children from this money I don't think this children will be good for you or for other people.

This is the first thing in dunya. In akhirah you will be more shy to in front of Prophet (sas) & Allah (awj) for what you do this. And Prophet (sas), there is big 7 sins. One of them is to make magic. And this people, especially if you tied one rope & blow on it Prophet (sas), this is also magic. And who do this, coming out from iman. This is very dangerous. And why I say this? Because one week ago, there was one lady she was 3 year before, she was here & she asked Mawlana. He said "no black magic for you, nothing" & just he read for her & she was Ok. And she coming complaining to me that in hotel there was one man coming to her & tell her "you have black magic..." & she was trembling.

And so I said "No, who say right? Your Shaykh say right. You don't have anything". Don't go to this people, crooked people. And especially for ladies, don't go to this magic people especially who saying "we will do magic or we know something from jinn". Because they are dangerous for ladies. They are..what is pervert? rapist? No shame but also for lady, they are dangerous to make bad thing. They are famous in these countries, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey. I think other place also, same like this. So from here, this is good to announce for all around the world who are listening: be careful. Be careful & you Mawlana Shaykh since 40 year he went to London, around all world & everybody know him. He never say "I make this & I do this, I speak with jinn or other.." So be careful nobody cheat you. This is very important because every time people asking for this for that. Only can make dua from Mawlana & his taweez, it is enough. No need for another thing, to go for this people.

Wa min Allah at-Tawfiq, Al Fatiha.

The Companion of Prophet (sas) and The Burglar

By Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani qs
Lefke Cyrpus, 30 August 2013

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Rahim

There was a Companion of the Prophet (sas) who was a businessman who bought and sold and people invested money with him as he was a pious, sincere servant of Allah (swt).  One day on a trip, a thief saw him, followed him and said, “Give me everything you have and I am going to kill you!”.

That poor Sahaabi (ra) looked at him and said, “La hawla wa laa quwwata illa billah! How I came on this problem? Okay, I’ll give you the  money, but let me free, why do you need my blood?”. The thief said, “No, this money is mine and whether you like it or not, I will take your money and then kill you!” Like today they take your money and then kill you so you cannot be witness against them, but where are you going to hide from Allah? May Allah forgive us!

The Sahaabi (ra) said, “If you are going to kill me, let my last moments be in Allah’s Hands, let me make wudu and pray four rak`ats.” The thief said, “Who cares? Pray as much as you like. I am here and going to take your money and then kill you!”.  So the man prayed four raka`ats and in his sajda, he said:

یَا وَدُودُ ، يَا ذَا الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدِ ، يَا فَعَّالُ لِمَا تُرِيدُ ، أَسْأَلُكَ بِعِزِّكَ الَّذِي لَا يُرَامُ ، وَمُلْكِكَ الَّذِي لَا

Yaa Wadood, yaa Wadood! Yaa Dhal-`Arshi ‘l-Majeed! Yaa fa`aalan limaa tureed! As’aluka bi `izzika ‘Lladhee laa yuraam wa bi-mulkika ‘Lladhee laa yudaam wa bi-noorika ‘Lladhee mala’a arkaana `arshika an takfiyanee sharra haadha ‘Llis. Yaa Mugheethu, aghithnee! Yaa Mugheethu, aghithnee! Yaa Mugheethu, aghithnee!

O Loving One! O Lord of the Glorified Throne! O You Who does what He wants! I ask You through Your Might which can not be harmed, and Your Dominion which can not be defeated, and Your Light which filled the Pillars of Your Thrown, that You protect me from the evil of this thief! O Savior of Calamity, save me! O Savior of Calamity, save me! O Savior of Calamity, save me!

As soon as he finished, a faris approached, a knight on a horse with a big spear that rested across its ears, and the burglar saw him coming. That faris came to him and killed him without asking any question, then he said to the Companion (ra) of the Prophet (sas), “Stand up.” The Companion (ra) said, “For Allah’s sake, who are you?”
He said:

Ana malakun min ahli ‘s-samaai ‘r-raabi`a fa da`awtallaha bi-du`aaika‘l-awwal fa-sami`tu li-abwaabi ‘s-samaai qa`qa`at, thumma da`awta bi-du`aaika ‘th-thaanee, fa-sami`tu li ahli ‘s-samaai dajjah thumma da`awta bi-du`aaika ‘th-thalaath, fa qeela lee du`aau makroobin, fa-sa’altullaaha ta`ala an yooliyanee qatlahu.

I am an angel from Heaven, from the Fourth Paradise. When you prayed and supplicated the first du`a, the Doors of Heaven began to hear cracking, then you made du`a with the second part and the People of Heavens began to hear commotion, then you made the third du`a and a voice came to me, saying, “This person making du`a is in need of someone,” and so I came to you asking Allah (swt) to send me to kill that burglar.

The Fiqh of Islam, Vol 13, Ramadan Series 2013, Suhbah after Fajr

A`oodhu billahi min ash-Shaytaani 'r-rajeem. Bismillahi 'r-Rahmaani 'r-Raheem. Nawaytu 'l-arba`een, nawaytu 'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu 'l-khalwah, nawaytu 'l-`uzlah, nawaytu 'r-riyaadah, nawaytu 's-sulook, lillahi ta`alaa al-`azheem fee haadha 'l-masjid.

أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ الرَّسُولَ وَأُوْلِي الأَمْرِ مِنكُمْ

Atee`oollaha wa atee`oo 'r-Rasoola wa ooli 'l-amri minkum.
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

The hadith al-Haarith al-Asha`ree (r) mentioned by Imam Ahmad (r) in his Musnad and in the book of Tirmidhi, he mentioned, and I will summarise it quickly that Allah ordered Sayyidina Yahya (a) to tell his people about five orders that Allah (swt) ordered them to do:

1) An ta`buda’Llaah wahdahu, to worship Allah (swt) alone. It means, to declare His Oneness, Maqaam at-Tawheed, that there is no Creator except Allah (swt) and that He is not like us, He is with Himself, by Himself, to Himself; no one can be partner and no one can associate himself with Allah (swt). And the Prophet (s) is His Beloved Servant and he (s) is very happy when Allah (swt) calls him, “My Servant,” where He mentioned in Surat al-Israa’:

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلاً مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ
مِنْ آيَاتِنَا إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ

Subhaan-alladhee asraa bi `abdihi laylan min al-masjid al-haraam ila 'l-masjidi 'l-aqsaa 'Lladhee baaraknaa hawlahu li-nooriyahu min ayaatinaa innahu huwa ‘s-samee`u 'l- baseer.

Glory be to He Who transported His servant by night from the Inviolable House of Worship (at Mecca) to the Remote House of Worship (at Jerusalem), the environs of which We had blessed so that We might show him some of Our symbols, for verily He Alone is All-Hearing, All-Seeing. (Surat al-'Israa, 17:1)

“Praise be to Allah that He took His Servant, Sayyidina Muhammad,” `abdihi, to be called “His Servant.” “Praise be to Allah that He took His Servant, `abdihi,” and the haa is referring to Allah (swt), that He owns him and through him owns everyone, that He took him for Israa’ wa 'l-Mi`raaj.

So we explained that under the Maqaam at-Tawheed section, and the other Order was prayer.

2) As-salaat. We explained what we were able to explain at that time in previous sessions, but there are more to explain later, inshaa-Allah. Then as-siyaam, fasting, he ordered his people by Allah’s Order to fast. The importance of fasting, and we mentioned that and the main one of that, but let’s go a little bit to the prayers.

We mentioned about salaah and we explained how in your salaah all the Five Pillars are within the salaah, you can find within the prayer siyaam, sadaqa, charity, zakaat, hajj and you can find tawheed in the prayer, and we explained that, but there is more to explain.

3) Siyaam, fasting, and the importance of fasting where the Prophet (s) said (that Allah said):

الصوم لي وانا اُجزي به

As-sawmu lee wa anaa ajzee bih.
Fasting is for Me and I will reward it. (Hadith Qudsi)

“Fasting is for Me and I will reward for that.” There are no angels there as intermediary, Allah takes our fasting directly; the fast will rise up to the Presence of Allah (swt), the Divine Presence and Allah (swt) will reward as He likes.

4) Now the chapter, or fourth one, which is very important and has a lot of significance is as-sadaqa, donation, the importance of charity in our lives. Sadaqa cannot be compared to anything, although prayers contain the Five Pillars of Islam. Siyaam is for Allah and sadaqa is something you are giving from yourself, from your wealth. You can pray all the time and the human being can feel that they do not want to be asked for sadaqa. You can fast all the year but, “Don’t ask me for sadaqa!” That is why sadaqa is very important because you are crushing your ego and giving when the self does not like you to give to anyone.

It is very difficult to put your hand in your pocket and give something, but to fast, you fast. If someone will ask you, “Do you prefer to fast one day or to give 1000 golden coins?” what do you say? “I prefer to fast. Don’t ask me for one golden coin.” [Laughter.] But your fast is worth more than 1000 golden coins as Allah said, “Fasting is for Me, salaat is for Him.” Sadaqa is very difficult to give. That’s why Allah said in Holy Qur’an:

Laysa `alayka hudaahum wa laakinna ‘Llaaha yahdee man yashaau wa maa tunfiqoo min khayrin fa li-anfusikum wa maa tunfiqoona illaa ‘btighaa wajhi ‘Llaahi wa maa tunfiqoo min khayrin yuwaffa ilaykum wa antum laa tuzhlamoon.

Not upon you, (O Muhammad), is (responsibility for) their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills. And whatever good you (believers) spend is for yourselves, and you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah. And whatever you spend of good, it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged. (Surat al-Baqarah, 2:272)

“Whatever you spend, you give,” sadaqa is not only money. If you want to know Allah accept your sadaqa, try to raise your sadaqa higher: instead of giving 100, try to say, “Okay, I want to give 300,” and check your ego what he says. If he doesn’t say anything and is happy to give 300, say, “500,” [Laughter.] Then for sure your ego will stop you giving at a number that you cannot accept it, although you may have millions.

`an `Sayyidina ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab radiyy-Allahu `anhu, qaala: amaranaa rasoolullahi sall-Allahu `alayhi wa sallama yawma an natasadiq. fa-waafaqa dhaalik maalan `indee. qultu: al-yawma asbiqu abaa Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq in sabaqathu yawman. faji’ta bi-nisfa maalee. fa-qaala rasoolullahi sall-Alalhu `alayhi wa sallama: maa abqayta li-ahlika? fa-qultu: mithluh. wa ataa abu bakrin bi-kulli maa `indahu. fa-qaala yaa abaa Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq radiyy-Allahu `anhu: ma abqayta li-ahlika? fa-qaal: abqayta lahumu ’Llahi wa rasoolihi. fa-qultu laa usaabiquka bi-shayyin abadan.

Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: The Messenger of Allah (s) commanded us one day to give sadaqa. At that time I had some property. I said: “Today I shall surpass Abu Bakr if I surpass him any day.” I, therefore, brought half my property. The Messenger of Allah (s) asked: “What did you leave for your family?” I replied: “The same amount.” Abu Bakr brought all that he had with him. The Messenger of Allah (s) asked him: “What did you leave for your family?’ He replied: “I left Allah and His Apostle for them.” I said: “I shall never surpass you in anything.”(Abu Dawud)

When the Prophet (s) asked the Sahaabah (r) to give to prepare for weapons for the army against those who were attacking Prophet (s), the Sahaabah (r) brought money; Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r), Sayyidina `Umar (r), Sayyidina `Uthmaan (r), Sayyidina `Ali (r) and many of the Sahaabah (r) brought money. The Prophet (s) asked Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r), “What have you left for your family?”

He said, “Yaa Rasoolullah, I brought everything I own, everything, I have nothing now, completely nothing.”
And he said to Sayyidina `Umar (r), “Yaa `Umar, what did you leave for your family?” He said, “I brought half and left half.” The Prophet (s) said, “Abu Bakr’s imaan is stronger than your imaan,” although the Prophet (s) had said, “If there is another prophet `Umar would be prophet after me.” But, look at the imaan of Sayyidina Abu Bakr (r): he gave everything! He didn’t want his ego to say no, he wanted to stop it, he didn’t want it to say... “I bring everything, what’s my ego going to do? Is it going to hang me?” He gave everything fee sabeelillah.

So sadaqa can be wealth, money, it can be a smile in the face of your brother, as the Prophet (s) said:

تبسمك في وجه أخيك صدقه

Tabasamak fee wajhih akheek sadaqa.
Even a smile in the face of your brother is sadaqa. (Bukhari)

To smile is a sadaqa, to smile in the face of your brother, to visit a sick person is sadaqa, to help a homeless person is sadaqa, to help an old man is sadaqa. One time Sayyidina `Ali, radiAllahu ta`ala `anhu wa ardaahu wa karramAllahu wajhahu wa `alayhi ‘s-salaam, was walking in Madinatu ‘l-Munawarra and in his mind was the hadith of Prophet (s), “To help is a sadaqa,” and he saw a lady, very old, he had never seen her in Madinatu ‘l-Munawarra, like a stranger walking and carrying a basket in her hand, and limping from the weight of the basket. Slowly, slowly walking. Adab, respect, is not to pass someone who is walking, you walk behind.

How much today they pass that one, the other one, they hit that one, hit that one and especially in cars, not only walking people, pedestrians, but cars, also especially in the countries, not here, in the Middle East...I advise anyone who lives in the West not to drive in Lebanon, or Pakistan, or India, or many Middle East countries. [Laughter.] Adab is to walk behind elderly people, not to pass them.

So Sayyidina `Ali (r) was walking behind her and this old lady was moving, and he felt bad for her; he came to her and he said, “O my mother, can I help you?” She looked at him from top to bottom at him, studying him. And she said, “O my son, if you can, if you can, I will be happy if you helped me.” He said, “Can I carry your basket to help?” She put it on the street and said to Sayyidina `Ali (r), “You carry it.” And Sayyidina `Ali (r), you know he is Asadu’Llah al-Ghaalib, he is the Victorious Lion of Allah, he is the strongest person in the universe, he carried wrestlers and threw them...not to carry a basket?

She left it and Sayyidina `Ali (r), doing it as a sadaqa, and we didn’t go through the ahadeeth yet, but this is sadaqa, he took the basket and carried it. He was not able to raise it more than his knees! So heavy that he was unable to raise it up to his knees. It was falling down and the old lady was carrying it and he was carrying it but only up to his knees, while that lady was carrying it and walking.

And then Prophet (s) explained to him later, after he arrived at the masjid, “That old lady is dunya and it is going, moving forward and one day is finishing. What you carried is the weight of the whole world, the Earth, that was the load, the weight of that basket was equal to the whole Earth that Allah has created. You carried that. She gave it to you to carry it; you carried up to your knees.”

Allah (swt) gave him that power to carry, his intention was to make sadaqa and Allah made him to carry the dunya that we are on. It means he is carrying and taking responsibility in the Presence of Prophet (s) and the Presence of Allah (swt) to help the ummah as much as he can. That is why he is Asadu’Llah al-Ghaalib, the Victorious Lion of Allah.

So Allah said in Holy Qu'ran, wa maa tunfiqoo min khayrin fa li-anfusikum, “What you spend in Allah’s Way is for you, not for Me, siyaam is for Me, fasting is for Me, but what you spend is for you, I don’t get anything from it.” Wa maa tunfiqoona illaa ibtighaa wajhi ‘Llaahi, “and you don’t spend except seeking Allah’s Love; you want Allah to be happy with you, that is why you are giving. So sadaqa makes Allah happy with the `abd, the servant.

وصدقة السر تطفيء غضب الرب

w’as-sadaqatu ’s-sirr tutfi`u ghadabu ’r-rabb
Secret charity extinguishes the Anger of Allah. (at-Tabarani)

Allah has anger? Yes, and His anger is not like our anger; it is anger against Shaytan and his harmful traps against the ummah. So, Allah (swt) will not get anything but you will from that sadaqa: wa maa tunfiqoo min khayrin yuwaffa ilaykum, “and whatever you spend of goodness, I have to pay you back on Day of Judgement, you will be paid back. So if you spend ten you will be paid back 700 and more,” because multiplication of hasanaat, hasanaat can be up to 700. You spend one and Allah will give up to 700. Wa antum laa tuzhlamoon, “You will never be oppressed.”

O Muslims! Prophet (s) mentioned in many ahadeeth:

الصدقة ترد البلاء وتزيد فى العمر

As-sadaqatu tarud al-balaa wa tazeedu fi 'l-`umr.
Sadaqa removes sickness and calamities and prolongs life.

“Sadaqa takes away and throws away all difficulties and afflictions and extends your life, increases your life,” not jogging increases your life! Seeing people, men and women on the streets in the morning, and running, and having something here...headphones, headears, and listening we don’t know what they are listening to, and running. No, sadaqa is going to save you. Prophet (s) said, as-sadaqatu tarudd al-balaa wa tazeedu fi 'l-`umr, “Sadaqa turns off afflictions and increases life.”

During time of Prophet (s) there was one lady, a very poor lady. Not like today--Allah is giving them a lot:

لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ

La-in shakartum la-azeedanakum.
If you thank Me, I will give you more. (Surah Ibraaheem, 14:7)

“You thank Me, I give you more!” Because we are in the last days of this world. We see all the signs from Prophet (s) been manifested: “At that time,” Prophet (s) said, “Allah ordered all the favors that are planted under the earth and from Heavens to be thrown on the Ummatun Nabi (s), to be given out, not to be kept.” That is why you see richness now.

So that lady in the time of Prophet (s) no one helping her, she doesn’t have anything, what she eats every day? She bakes three round bread, small, as it is described. One she eats in the morning after Fajr, one she eats at noon after Zhuhr and one in the evening after Maghrib. That was her intention, when she baked, but every day one person came to her at noon saying, “Give me what Allah gave you.”

So she give him every day one bread and she left herself one in the morning and one in the evening. It went on for many, many days and months until one day, she baked three as usual and the one came at midday, he knocked and took his bread and went. Then at Fajr time, as soon as she want to eat someone knocked, a beggar was there asking her for food. She took the bread that she has for Fajr and gave to him; the noontime one is gone. Then she sat to eat at Maghrib and as she broke the bread, a poor person knocked at the door and said, “Give me from what Allah gave you.” She didn’t say, “I don’t have.” She thought to herself, “This man is asking from what Allah gave me, can I refuse what Allah wants? I will give.” So she gave him.

Prophet (s) mentioned that there is a tree in Paradise that has the names of all the people on Earth on each leaf. Sayyidina Azra`eel (a), Malak al-Mawt, is always looking at that tree and when a leaf falls, he knows that he has to take the soul of that person. So as soon as that leaf falls, in no time the Angel of Death will be ready to take the soul. At that moment her leaf was falling down, so immediately the Angel of Death went down to take the soul, but the bread from the morning was covering her mouth and not allowing the soul to be taken. That is according to the hadith of the Prophet (s):

الصدقة ترد البلاء وتزيد في العمر

As-sadaqatu tarudd al-balaa wa tazeedu fi 'l-`umr.
Donations wards off afflictions and increases life.

Don’t jog, what you spend on jogging is better to give to the poor. You spend a lot of money: to park the car in the parking lot, to put gas, go jog, then go back and take a shower and you need to wash the clothes, as they are now sweaty. No, give that money in sadaqa!

The first bread was covering her mouth, so the Angel of Death went to the belly button to take her soul, only to find that the second piece of bread came and blocked him. Then the Angel of Death went to her feet, as sometimes they take the soul from the toe and the Maghrib bread was there blocking him. He said, “Yaa Rabbee, what can I do?” Allah said, “Come up! Didn’t you hear My Beloved Prophet (s) say, as-sadaqatu tarudd al-balaa wa tazeedu fi 'l-`umr, ‘Sadaqa increases life and takes away affliction.’ Go back! There is no need to take her soul, as I am giving more time for her!”

Prophet (s) said:

ما نقصت مال من صدقة

Maa naqasat maala min sadaqa.
Money never decreases from donation. (Sahih Muslim)

“Money will never be less from charity, sadaqa.” If you give ten, Allah will send you 100. Don’t think that you will lose. There have been many poor people in the previous times and in every time as well as present day, and it happened with our teacher, may Allah bless his soul, Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Fa'iz ad-Daghestani (q). He used to always keep lots of small coins in his pocket, or his bag, to give to the poor. And this happened maybe 100 years ago. So they were moving from Turkey to Istanbul and traveling by horses which would take four to five hours. And they stopped at different stables to rest the horses as they were tired, or change them.

So when they reached the stables, there too many poor people gathered to collect money from the travelers. And the shaykh gave and gave to everyone, there were many poor people, and then the horses moved forward and stopped before getting to Istanbul and more poor people were there, so he gave and gave until there was no more money. Then he reached Istanbul and more poor people were waiting and he looked and he went to take out but no more money was left. The person was asking, “From what Allah (swt) gave you , give me,” you cannot say to Allah, “No, I am not giving.” That one is not Allah (swt), but is Allah’s Servant and the Prophet (s) said:

وأوصى النبي صلى اللّه عليه وسلم أبا هريرة بوصية عظيمة فقال: يا أبا هريرة! عليك بحسن الخلق. قال أبو هريرة رضي اللّه عنه: وما حسن الخلق يا رسول اللّه؟ قال: تصل مَنْ قطعك، وتعفو عمن ظلمك، وتُعطي من حرمك
(رواه البيهقي).

Awsaa ‘n-nabiyyu sall-Allahu `alayhi wa sallim Aba Hurayrah bi-wasهyyati `azheematin fa-qaala: yaa Abaa Hurayrah! `alayka bi-husnu ‘l-khuluq. Qaala Abu Hurayrah: wa maa husna ‘l-khuluqi yaa Rasoolullah. Qaala: tasila man qata`k, wa ta`foo `amman zhalamak, wa tu`tee man haramak.

The Prophet (s) advised Abu Hurayrah (r), “O Abu Hurayrah! Keep good manners.” He said, “Yaa Rasoolullah, what are the best of manners?” the Prophet (s) said, “to connect with the one who severed relations with you; to forgive the one who oppressed you and to give to the one who prevented you receiving your rightful claim.” (Narrated by Bayhaqi)

Connect the one who cut relations with you and give to the one who cut you off. “Give to the one who tries to block you, give to him as well if he asks.” So that is Prophet’s order: to give. Don’t say, “No.”

Mawlana Shaykh didn’t have anything to give but his watch. That watch had been given to him from Sultan `Abdul Hamid, the Ottoman Emperor who received it from the King of France. And it was antique, from 14th or 15th century. He looked and he had nothing left. He took that watch that is worth millions today and gave to that person in order not to send even one person back without giving. It might have been a test, but he gave.

So when you give, as the Prophet (s) described it, “It is like someone traveling in the desert and some group of people, qata`een turuq, highway robbers in the desert,”-- it’s like someone going on the highway and robbers stopped him, and they want to steal from him. They say, “We want to kill you, no way, today you are finished.” And he says, “Can I buy myself?” And they say, “Yes.” He gives all his money to buy his life. It is like that, when you give, you are buying yourself in Akhirah from Allah (swt), to free yourself from punishment, or from judgement.

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏َ"‏ منْ نُوقِشَ الْحِسَابَ عُذِّبَ ‏"‏

Man nooqisha ‘l-hisaaba `udhdhib.
As the Prophet (s) said to Sayyida `Ayesha (r): Anybody whose account (record) is questioned will surely be punished. (Bukhari) and:

من حوسب عذّب

Man hoosiba `udhdhib.
Who will be judged will be punished for sure. (Bukhari)

“Whoever is taken to account by Allah (swt), for sure they cannot be saved, for sure they will be punished.” So this was to tell us: pray every day that Allah (swt) will not Judge you, this is for the ummah to pray in every prayer, “Yaa Rabbee, don’t judge me, send me without any judgement to Paradise.” Because if Allah (swt) wants to judge someone, every detail you did, everything you did in your life will appear, nothing is hidden, like a video, or a server hiding everything inside it, and you see it in front of you.

As Ibn Qayyim said:
فإن للصدقة تأثيرا عجيبا في دفع أنواع البلاء ولو كانت من فاجر أو من ظالم بل من كافرفإن الله تعالى يدفع ﺑﻬا عنه أنواعا من البلاء وهذا أمر معلوم عند الناس خاصتهم وعامتهم وأهل الأرض كلهم مقرون به لأﻧﻬم جربوه

fa inna li-sadaqa katheeran `aajeeban fi ‘l-anw`ai ‘l-balaa, wa law kaanat min faajirin aw zhaalimin bal min kaafir. Fa inna-Llaaha ta`ala yadfa’u bihaa `anhu anwa`an min al-balaa

Sadaqa has an immense interference in preventing the most difficult afflictions, sadaqa will handle it and lessen your problems, your afflictions. even if done by a faajir, corrupted one, or zhaalim, an oppressor or even a non-believer; if he gives sadaqa Allah (swt) will accept. For verily Allah wards off many problems from you when you give sadaqa.

It is not only for some people, but it is for everyone. For Muslims it will be multiplied with no account, but for others it will save them, it will do its work for them.

At-Tirmidhi wrote in his Sahih from the hadith of Anas ibn Malik (r) that the Prophet (s) said:

إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ لَتُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ وَتَدْفَعُ مِيتَةَ السُّوءِ

Inna ‘s-sadaqata la-tutfi’oo ghadabu ‘r-rabb wa tadfa`u maytati ‘s-soo’.
Indeed charity extinguishes the Lord's anger and it protects against the evil death. (Tirmidhi)

“Sadaqa extinguishes the anger of Allah (swt),” it will put it down. When you know yourself that you did something wrong or bad, quickly throw a sadaqa somewhere, it will take away Allah’s Anger. Wa tadfa`u maytata ‘s-soo’, “and it will take away the bad death,” when someone is dying, “and change it to a good death;” you cannot see that, but the deceased can see that. For sadaqa of the mu’min, you cannot see how much He will take away from the servant when he is dying.

Ibn Qayyim continues:

وكما أﻧﻬا تطفئ غضب الرب تبارك وتعالى فهي تطفئ الذنوب والخطايا كما تطفئ الماء النار

Wa kamaa annahaa tutfi’oo ghadabu ‘r-rabb tabaaraka wa ta`ala wa hiya tutfi’oo adh-dhunoob wa ‘l-khataayaa kamaa yutfiun maa un-naar

and as it extinguishes Allah's Anger, also it will extinguish all kinds of sins and ma`siyya., as water puts out a fire, with the sadaqa, Allah (swt) will extinguish the punishment you might take in Hellfire.

We can go more, I want to mention this hadith but there is no time. I explained it before, but I will mention without explanation now. It is narrated by Bukhari, so make sure you understand when we say, “Bukhari,” because people say, “O Bukhari is okay, and Muslim is okay, but the other six, we have to check,” what do you have to check? What is this stupidity in your mind? Imagine the one who was with the Prophet (s) day and night...The Prophet (s) was sitting with the Sahaabah (r), from morning till night and teaching them.

How many hadith came out in one day? How many? One or two? Hundreds, from morning Fajr time up to `Isha; he would pray `Isha with them and then go to his house, so they stayed with him all that time, and now they say, “Only Bukhari's 4,000 hadith,” and now they have reduced it to 3,000 ahadeeth. Is that it? There are a lot more. How many hadith did Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) mention about the Prophet (s)? He was the closest Companion and migrated with him which took many days to go from Mecca to Madina. Did not the Prophet (s) tell him different hadith every moment? What we know from Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (r) is only 25 or 26 ahadeeth, not even 30. Where are they? They are there. So the Sahaabah (r) were listening to the Prophet (s) from morning to evening.

So this hadith, Abu Hurayrah (r) related that the Messenger of Allah (s) said:

`an abi hurayrah anna rasoolullah (s) qaal: qaala rajulun la atasadaqanna bi-sadaqah. fa kharaj bi-sadaqatihi fa-wada`ahaa fee yadi saariq. fa asbahoo yatahaddathoon: tasadaqa `alaa saariq. fa qaal allahuma laka ’l-hamd la-atasadaqanna bi-sadaqah. fa kharaj bi-sadaqatihi fa-wada`ahaa fee yadi zaaniya. fa asbahoo yatahaddathoon: tasadaq `alaa zaaniya. fa qaal allahuma laka ’l-hamd la-atasadaqanna bi-sadaqah. fa kharaj bi-sadaqatihi fa-wada`ahaa fee yadi ghaniyy. fa asbahoo yatahaddathoon: tasadaq al-laylayta `alaa ghaniyy. fa-qaal: allahuma laka ’l-hamdu `alaa sariqun wa `ala zaaniyyatin wa `alaa ghaniyy. fa ataa faqeela lahu: amma sadaqatuk `alaa saariq fa la`llahu yasta`nifa `an saraaqatih, wa amma ’z-zaaniyata fa la`llahaa tasta`nif `an zinaahaa, wa amma ’l-ghaniyy fala`allahu an ya`tabir fayunfiqu mimmaa aataahu ’Llaah. (Bukhari and Muslim with another wording)

A man said to himself, “Today I will give a sadaqa, charity.”

[Look this is going to flip your mind upside-down, and down-side up. [Laughter.] It is amazing this hadith, and there are many like that. Those who want to teach fiqh, let them teach such hadith to people, give them an opening, a mercy; give them a way out of their sins. They only focus on very structural hadith, which is very good, but there are ahadeeth that give you hope in this life so you end well in Akhirah.]

So he said, “I am going to give a charity.” He took the charity that he wanted to give and he saw someone whom he thought is poor and put sadaqa in his hands and it turned out that person was not poor, rather he was a thief, and he had given his charity to a thief! The people of the town began to speak about him, “He gave charity to a thief.” And that man said, “Alhamdulillah that I gave charity, I didn’t know but You let me give charity,” the thief was happy, he took it and left.

Then he made intention, everyday he made intention to give sadaqa to someone, so the next day he took the charity to give to someone in need. There was a lady passing, she looked poor and he took his money, [like doctors, they give a lot], so he took his charity and put it in the hand of that lady. That lady was a prostitute. The people began to talk about him, “Yesterday he gave to a thief and today he gave to a prostitute.” He got upset and said, “Tomorrow I am giving my charity to a right person.”

The next day, he went looking and saw one poor person. You may have seen a poor person not dressing well, they have lot, but are hiding themselves. So he passed by one who looked very disgusting and very poor, but was in reality very rich. He took his money and put it in the hand of this very rich man.The people began to speak saying, “He gave money to a rich man instead of giving to a poor one.” He became confused what he has to do? First he gave to a thief, second to a prostitute and third to a rich man! So he got fed up, as he didn’t know what to do. “Yaa Rabbee, all praise by to You. Everything goes back to you,” he was fed up and didn’t know what to say. “Yaa Rabbee, what can I do? I have given to a thief, a prostitute and a rich person, when my intention was to give to a poor person.

“He was called by an angel or received an inspiration, ‘As for the sadaqa you gave the thief it might be that the sadaqa you gave to the thief would turn him into a pious person...”

[I will explain a little bit here, “‘your intention was something, but My Will was something else. You want to give here, but I want you to give to this. It is not your decision, but My Will that I have written. It might be that the sadaqa you gave to the thief would turn him into a pious person, as it is sadaqa from a mu’min.’” That is what Allah is seeing which that man does not see. Through that money, Allah might change that man into a good person. So it means give to anyone; don’t say, “This is a thief or this is a prostitute.” If you want to give, then give.]

The hadith continues: “And as for the prostitute, it might be that because of that money she changes her mind and leaves off being a prostitute and becomes a good woman. And the rich man might take an example on learning to spend in Allah’s Way and become generous instead of being stingy.” (Sahih Bukhari)

So such sadaqa can do miracles. If it is making miracles for the thief, the prostitute and the rich, can it not make miracles for us? Of course it can. We continue next time.

Wa min Allah at-tawfeeq bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah

You see the importance of these ahadeeth, among many hadith of sadaqa or salaat, there are some hadith that are not only structural, but there are those which have interpretational meanings that give an idea of Allah’s Great Mercy by which everyone will be saved. They open our minds more and more, not to be very narrow and limited in order to understand Prophet (s). May Allah forgive us. That is what we know and if we did something wrong we ask forgiveness from the viewers and others.

Wa min Allahi 't-tawfeeq, bi hurmati 'l-habeeb, bi hurmati 'l-Fatihah.
